Booking & Reservations

You can book directly through our website by visiting our Packages page, or contact us by phone or email. Select your route, travel dates, number of passengers, and vehicle type. You'll receive a confirmation email once your booking is complete.

Yes, bookings can be modified or cancelled up to 24 hours before departure, subject to availability and fare conditions. Changes and cancellations made within 24 hours of sailing may incur a fee. Please review our Refund Policy for full details.

We accept all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Online bookings are processed through a secure payment gateway. Bank transfers are available for group and corporate bookings — contact our team for details.

We recommend arriving at the port at least 90 minutes before departure for foot passengers and 2 hours before departure if travelling with a vehicle. Check-in closes 45 minutes before sailing. Late arrivals may not be accommodated and bookings may be forfeited.

Routes & Schedules

Irish Ferries operates key routes connecting Ireland, the UK, and France. Our main routes include:

  • Dublin to Holyhead — up to 6 sailings daily, crossing time approx. 3 hrs 15 min
  • Rosslare to Pembroke — daily sailings, crossing time approx. 4 hrs
  • Rosslare to Cherbourg — France route, crossing time approx. 18 hrs

The Dublin to Holyhead crossing takes approximately 3 hours 15 minutes on our high-speed ferry service. Standard vessel crossings may take slightly longer depending on conditions. Crossing times are approximate and may vary due to weather, traffic at port, or vessel type.

Yes, Irish Ferries operates year-round on all major routes. Sailing frequency may be reduced during winter months, and some seasonal routes may have limited schedules. We recommend booking in advance during peak periods such as school holidays, bank holidays, and summer months (June–August).

In the event of a cancellation due to adverse weather or technical issues, we will offer you a full refund or rebook you on the next available sailing at no additional charge. You will be notified by email and SMS as soon as possible. Please ensure your contact details are up to date in your booking.

Onboard Experience

Our vessels offer a wide range of onboard facilities to make your crossing comfortable and enjoyable:

  • Restaurant, café, and bar facilities
  • Duty-free shopping
  • En-suite cabin accommodation (on overnight sailings)
  • Lounge and reclining seating areas
  • Children's play area
  • Wi-Fi connectivity (charges may apply)
  • Accessible facilities for passengers with reduced mobility

Yes, cabin accommodation is available on overnight sailings such as the Rosslare to Cherbourg route. Cabins range from standard 4-berth options to private en-suite cabins. Cabin bookings can be added when making your ferry reservation. We recommend booking cabins in advance as they fill up quickly during peak season.

Yes, food and beverage services are available on all sailings. Options typically include a full-service restaurant with hot meals, a self-service café for lighter bites and snacks, and a bar. Menus vary by vessel and route. Passengers may bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks onboard for personal consumption.

Vehicles & Pets

Yes, Irish Ferries accommodates cars, motorcycles, campervans, motorhomes, and coaches. Vehicle dimensions and weights must fall within specified limits. Additional charges apply for vehicles over standard size. Please declare your vehicle type and dimensions accurately at time of booking to avoid issues at check-in.

Pets are welcome on selected Irish Ferries routes, subject to Pet Passport regulations. Dogs, cats, and other animals must remain in the kennels area or in your vehicle on car decks during the crossing. Please note that pets are not permitted in passenger lounges or cabins. Pre-booking your pet is essential — a limited number of pet spaces are available per sailing.

For safety reasons, passengers are not permitted to remain in their vehicles during the crossing once the vessel is at sea. After parking on the vehicle deck, all passengers must proceed to the passenger decks for the duration of the voyage. Access to the car deck during sailing is restricted to crew only.

Travel documentation requirements depend on your route and nationality. Irish and UK citizens travelling between Ireland and the UK may use a valid passport or national ID card. Travel to France requires a valid passport for all passengers. We recommend always carrying a valid passport to avoid any issues. Please check current border requirements with your relevant government authority prior to travel.
